OVERSATURATED
Mixed Media - Immersive Installation
2024
12’ x 12’ x 6’
Miami Dade College Gallery - Hialeah
In today’s world, the amount of information we are bombarded with on a daily
basis can feel overwhelming. Combined with how rapidly technology is
advancing, the way we absorb media is vastly different than it was just a few
years ago. The goal of OVERSATURATED is to immerse the viewer in a
physical manifestation of both old and new, to combine the feeling of
oversaturation of media with how we consume it.
OVERSATURATED is an immersive, mixed-media collage that is meant to
evoke familiar feelings in its audience. It is a visual representation of today’s
constant news and neverending updates. The figure in the center holds an
umbrella to shield herself from information raining down all around her– yet
she holds a smartphone containing all the world’s knowledge at the click of a
button. Information is more accessible than ever now– But can we handle it?

Ghosts of Appalachia
Acrylic on Canvas. 30" x 40".
2024.
"Ghosts of Appalachia" presents a spectre lighting up the darkness in the form of a child from the past, whose energy still remains and lingers on. My goal was to evoke a feeling that your past is always with you, whether you acknowledge it or not. It is a reminder of a more innocent time, when, as a child you were not afraid to play with wild animals or get dirty... Something perhaps lost on the hustle and bustle of today-- but still lingering there, like a ghost. The painting serves as an inspiration to remember the freedom of that time and draw inspiration from it.
